this lovely chaos

because settling down is a whole new adventure

When the cast of Schitt’s Creek helps you make an announcement, you know you’re kind of a big deal

August 2, 2021

Well hello there, you gorgeous thing, you! It’s been awhile. Did you miss me?

Because I sure missed you.

You might be thinking: ‘Well, then, spend more time here, DUMMY. It’s YOUR blog.’

And that would be fair.

Those of you who have been with me for awhile know that I started this blog initially because I was looking for connection with other like-minded folks. You know, of the super-awesome variety.

And I still am. I crave that ‘I-know-you-and-I see-you’ level of connection like I crave chocolate chip cookie dough. Which is fiercely and often.

A civilized birth? Why there’s simply no such thing! Or is there…?

8 days ago, I was writing a letter to my postpartum self.

Today, I have a 7-day old little girl.  Our pink buddha.  Our fraggle.  I can’t stop inhaling her.  I can’t get enough of her little squeaks, her tiny toes.  She sneezes and the roof lifts and she farts like a trucker.  We are smitten.

So…my little pickle’s birth story…Read more

Just kidding!

hello-im-back-2

Remember that time back in 2016 when I said I was calling it a day on this whole blogging deal?

Yeah, well…

I seem to find myself in similar circumstances as I was when I first began my blog, back in 2015.  That is, pregnant.

Here in Canada, mamas now have the option of taking a mind-blowing 18 month maternity leave.  While the financial implications of this option are not exactly enticing, my husband and I agreed that the numerous benefits of staying home with my kids while they are so little just couldn’t be overlooked.Read more

Well hey there! I'm Kelly - a teacher, author, wife, and mama. Also: a highly-sensitive person and wellness junkie, slightly obsessed with stationery supplies and anything to do with organizing. I've had a lot of adventures in my life, but none compare to the wild ride of 'settling down'. Join me here as I share my stories and seek connection with like-minded folks.

Rockin’ my socks for World Down Syndrome Day 🫶 #teachersofinstagram #worlddownsyndromeday #rockyoursocks #seetheability
Learned a few things on my family’s March Break Learned a few things on my family’s March Break trip to Mexico…

1. Turns out children don’t suddenly morph into adventurous foodies just because they deplane in another country.
2. Finished a novel in a day and then had to resort to audiobooks. Not a horrible thing, but not nearly as satisfying as holding a paperback. (Anyone else? Or is that just a me thing?)
3. Top of my list of favourite self-care habits is journalling. What on earth possessed me to leave home for a week without it???
4. So. Delicious.
5. I don’t look at other women in their bathing suits and think mean things. What ever gave me the idea that they think mean things about how I look in my bathing suit?

What lessons did you learn from your Spring Break this year? ☀️
