this lovely chaos

because settling down is a whole new adventure

I took a leave from teaching this year. Here’s how it’s going. (It’s not what I expected.)

December 2, 2022

Last year the stress of the previous 5 years caught up with me.

I kind of fell apart.

Not that you’d have known it to look at me. I still looked like a professional.

But inside, I was always anxious. Always discombobulated.

Husband saw the shift in me too.

How To Be A More Organized Teacher This Year

August 22, 2022

I could have titled this post “How To Be A More Organized PERSON This Year”, because the two basic organizational truths I’m going to share apply to everyone regardless of profession.

But, I’m a teacher and it’s almost back-to-school time here, so I thought I’d hone in on my teacher peeps. If you’re reading this and you’re not a teacher…

Angry at your kid’s teacher? Read this.

February 21, 2018

I think it’s safe to say that no one makes it through life without encountering some conflict along the way.  Relationships of all kinds – personal, professional, parental – have their trying moments.  It’s how we deal with these moments that defines our character and determines how well we’ll sleep at night.

People are emotional – and sometimes often times, irrational beings.  When others don’t see situations through the same lens as we do, conflict can result.  Trust me, I know – I’m an elementary school teacher.Read more

Rockin’ my socks for World Down Syndrome Day 🫶 #teachersofinstagram #worlddownsyndromeday #rockyoursocks #seetheability
Learned a few things on my family’s March Break Learned a few things on my family’s March Break trip to Mexico…

1. Turns out children don’t suddenly morph into adventurous foodies just because they deplane in another country.
2. Finished a novel in a day and then had to resort to audiobooks. Not a horrible thing, but not nearly as satisfying as holding a paperback. (Anyone else? Or is that just a me thing?)
3. Top of my list of favourite self-care habits is journalling. What on earth possessed me to leave home for a week without it???
4. So. Delicious.
5. I don’t look at other women in their bathing suits and think mean things. What ever gave me the idea that they think mean things about how I look in my bathing suit?

What lessons did you learn from your Spring Break this year? ☀️
